Drying Out a Finished Basement in Jackson, MN
Challenge
Nic contacted us for assistance with drying up his finished basement in Jackson, MN. There was water seeping in and damaging the walls and floors. This was a concern not only for the appearance of the basement but also for the health of his family. Upon removing some of the wall paneling, visible mold growth on the sheetrock was discovered. Mold can pose health risks to people of any age. The best way to deal with it is to prevent it from happening. We sent our Design Specialist Ron out to assess the situation and see how we could help.
Solution
Ron suggested our WaterGuard System which intercepts water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it safely away. He also let Nic know that the CleanSpace Wall System, SuperSump sump pump, and LawnScape Discharge with IceGuard would be ideal to keep his basement dry for good.
Our Crew Leader Justin K put his team to work on installing these top-of-the-line products. They jackhammered around the perimeter of the basement floor, demoed the damaged walls, and prepared a spot for the new sump pump.
Once the WaterGuard is laid into the trench around the perimeter, it is surrounded with rock to allow for the water to move freely. It is then covered with cement to create a flush, usable floor that you can easily lay flooring over.
The CleanSpace Wall System is a bright, clean, durable vapor barrier that creates a cosmetically nice wall, as well as stops water vapor from permeating the walls. This was installed on the bottom half of the basement walls on this project.
The SuperSump Justin's team put in is the finest sump pump system available. It has an airtight lid, so nothing can fall into the sump hole. Items can be stacked on top, no storage space is lost! It is also equipped with a WaterWatch Alarm System which alerts the homeowner if the water rises above the point that the pump should turn on. This gives ample warning to address the problem before damage occurs.
The LawnScape is a buried discharge line that the team will go back in the Spring when the ground is thawed to complete. They will also install our patented IceGuard System which allows water to escape through its openings so that even if the pipe freezes or has a blockage, the water will not back up into your basement.
