Dry Basement & Clean Crawl Space Systems Installed In Belle Plaine, MN

Challenge

Irma W. of Belle Plaine, MN was referred to Complete Basement Systems by a previous customer of ours to address her water problem in her unfinished basement. She also has a crawl space that would cause an odor throughout the rest of her home.

She uses the basement for storing many personal items and had a hobby space in the basement that she would work in and the basement just always had a musty smell to it and got frustrated with that, and finally called the professionals in for some help.

During an inspection at the home with Irma, our system design specialist observed the area where Irma had noticed the problem with water and looked at the exposed dirt crawl space.

What happens with water intrusion in the basement, starts from when your home is built and when all that loose backfill/soil is disrupted, is where water collects and keeps collecting. All that water causes pressure on the foundation and over time causes so much pressure it seeps up through the floor and wall joint of the home. Most existing drrain tile installed in homes have clogged at that point as well, so water really has no place to go.

When a crawl space has an exposed dirt floor beneath our home, our home enviornment is exposed to the water transmission vapors that come from the ground. We get insects, rodents, mold and funky odors.

Solution

After a free no obligation estimate, we were ready to transform Irma's basement and crawl space. We wanted to ensure that Irma's residence would stay healthy and safe for years to come, and this required installing our industry leading waterproofing and crawl space products.

First, we tackled the crawl space project and installed the CleanSpace Liner System on the floor and walls of her crawl space. This is going to isolate her home from the ground, leaving it look so much brighter and cleaner.

Next the waterproofing project. The perimeter floor around the home needs to be broken out to properly install our WaterGuard Drainage System. CleanSpace is also installed on the walls in the basement and is a vapor barrier to protect from moisture, mold and water leakage. Any water seepage from the walls, then drains into the WaterGuard Drainage System installed below it. The Waterproofing system will be equipped with a SuperSump Pump System to pump the water out of the basement to a buried discharge line.

We also updated Irma's basement windows that are all vinyl, energy efficient that will not rot. These EverLast Basement Windows will look much better and don't let wind in and have double pane glass.

The entire project only took our installation team 3 days to complete. Irma was sure impressed by the crews professionalism during the installation and could not believe how clean her basement looks.

Exposed dirt floor crawl space underneath our customer's home. Having a dirt crawl space causes high humidity and condensation, mold, insects, and odors. Making your home unhealthy and uncomfortable.

The solution to uncouple the effects of the earth to you house with CleanSpace Liner which is isolating your house from the ground. CleanSpace is a 20 mil-thick liner. The white finish really brightens your crawl space.

WaterGuard and SuperSump Pump System installed to collect ground water seepage, the system is exposed here, but will be covered with new concrete. CleanSpace Wall System is installed from the top to the bottom of the walls and is a vapor barrier protecting from sweat and leaky walls.

IceGuard is a product installed on the outside of the home, where the water will discharge from the sump pump system to the buried discharge line. The IceGuard is important as it will prevent freeze ups when that underground line freezes during our winter months in Minnesota.

This is a CleanSpace Vent Cover installed. This will not let warm humid air in during the summer time and will prevent added moisture from affecting the crawl space. In the winter months it will not let warm air out which make for colder and uncomfortable floors upstairs.
