This basement in Lake Wilson, MN had an addition with a walk in crawl space. Dave noticed it had been crumbling and had about a 2 inch wall shear on the south wall of his home. It was a cause for concern but had been putting the project off for a couple years to figure out a way to afford the project to do what needed to be done. When Dave was ready, he contacted Complete Basement Systems for a FREE estimate to know the exact price of what needed to be done to correct the problem.
Solution
After the free estimate from our system design specialist, we were able to show Dave what caused his foundation to shift and why the product we proposed to install is the best fit for his home's foundation.
Why foundation walls shift and cause cracks is because forces of nature such as moisture and frost that interact with the soil around your home and that soil expands. That expansion results in constant inward force on your foundation wall until it can no longer support the pressure which causes cracking, bowing and tipping of foundations.
The product solution installed for Dave's home is the PowerBrace System from Complete Basement Systems. Zinc-Plated steel beams are custom fit to the basement wall height and secured tight against the basement wall with brackets anchored to the basement floor joists.
The installation consisted of 15 PowerBrace steel beams installed along the full wall on the north, south and east walls. Installation obstacles to work around for this project included a water heater and a thick 3" floor.
Our customer chose our company and the solution because of the method of the installation did not involve digging around the foundation to correct the problem.
